I'm guessing you didn't see the open-bracket a few posts ago?
It means that the bit within BOTH brackets is a sort of side-note to what the main part of the sentence is about. So you can't just end the main sentence without bringing the bracketed part to a meaningful end & then bringing the main part to an end. Punctuation is there for a reason. |
