Thanks

29 now... Does it make sense that going close to 30 feels a bit scary? I mean, I remember my teenage years so well as if it was yesterday, when I was 15 or 16. Whole life ahead of me, making plans, not even thinking about getting older. And before you know you're reaching the number 3 yourself. Time ticks away some rapidly. It always reminds me of the song 74-75 by The Connells and its video. You look back on the worryless teenage years when life was full of plans, pretty memories but also melancholy when realising those times are gone.

But well, when I was a teenager I said what I wanted to do in life was to travel. Now, at age 29, I've lived in 7 different countries. So I guess I can somewhat consolidate myself that I did use my time for what I wanted to do.

And well, another year means another set of chances, so I try to look at it with a positive approach. Thanks for the well-wishing.

Happy Birthday, Tsunami!
Don't feel scared by getting colose to 30. You still have another 90 years after that!

Some people say that life begins only after you retire, so you've still got a long time to wait just for the beginning!

You've traveled much more than the average 29 years old human being (I recall the nursery school teacher of my son when we were in the USA several years ago. She said she never left Michigan since she was born). One of my relatives has a globe with needles stuck in every place he visited. That lobe resembles a porcupine. He started traveling as an American officer in World War 2, and he still is traveling a lot and adding needles to his globe. I hope you can have such a globe sometime (that is unless you think you've had enough traveling and want to try something else!)

If it depends on me I'll travel until I literally drop dead from old age. I never get tired of the exciting feeling of setting foot in a new place where new discoveries await around every corner. I hope I can travel for as long as my physical health allows it

That said, I did lose my heart to the Middle East. If I ever settle, I hope it will be either in Istanbul or Tel Aviv. Not the easiest places to get long term residence and working permits for, but until I can manage that I can travel some more and discover some more of this world of ours It may sound odd coming from me (as I am clinically depressive) but there is a lot of beauty in this world, and I'd hate to even think of stopping travelling until I've at least seen several countries per continent. I have been all over Europe (and a very tiny portion of the Middle East) but then this means 5 more continents to explore! The idea with the porcupine-like globe is great, I may do that!

Thanks for all the well-wishing !!

So you'll never stop traveling, since there's one continent with only one country, and also one continent with zero countries!

Well, actually, Antarctica is divided in zones that are claimed and administered by several countries, ranging from nearby countries such as Chile, New Zealand and South Africa to USA, Norway and I believe even my native Belgium owns a base on Antarctica.

Point Nemo would be great as an ultimate travel goal
