PIM/Reminder service
I love PIMS and check them out almost as much as I check out new email services.
I have my favorite TexNotes but I also like checking out new and interesting ones. I thought this one would interest a few people on this list. It's OnlineHomeBase or OnlineHB for short (www.onlinehb.com works too). The interface is kinda interesting. It's freeform. For notes, to-dos and reminders. You can have reminders emailed to your cell phone. You can make a list of things and share that page out with people (to read only), or give limited read/write capability...collaborative notes! You can search across your sheets on the web. Here's a shared page I made real quick so you can see. |

Cool. I checked it out and signed up - I sort of like the interface. Text. Shortcuts.
But it's not working properly for me. Maybe I am just missing something, but the email reminder bit either wipes out the entry or just changes itself to be that day rather than the day I asked it to be. ?? Don't know what to make of that. I mean for the calendar version, btw. The todo works great. |

You're right about the reminders. I haven't received one email reminder from them. I liked alot of the features, but they need to get that working since it's an advertised feature. I'll drop them an email.....

OK after playing with this I finally got an email reminder out of it! One needs to use military time to get the reminders to work. However, the site's FAQ's suggest that one can use 3:00 pm to have a reminder set and that it should work. However, it's not. But if you put in 1500 it will. So I'm dropping them a line, even though I got my reminder.
Even though I typed up some notes in the program, I still copied them into my Fastmail Notepad. I guess I've kinda gotten hooked on my Notepad. |

Be careful....
I just lost some data on this site. It's a bit buggy and I had to send them a message about it. Guess it's still a new service. Anyway back up anything that you need off there.

Yep, my email reminders worked, too. The ones in the notepad, at least. I gave up on the calendar bit of it.
Thanks for the warning about its bugginess - I'll backup any really important stuff elsewhere...like my Fastmail notepad. ![]() |

Well I sent these folks a bug report. They wrote back right away and thanked me and said they'd get working on it because yes, it was a big bug.
I didn't know this (they told me in the reply email) but they are the same group that run Quickbrowse.com, if you ever used that in its free days..... |

Hi, I'm Marc Fest, the creator of onlinehomebase (and quickbrowse). Just wanted to thank you all for trying out onlinehb. We're eager to fix any bugs that you may find or consider ideas that you come up with. For now, I confirmed that a time code like ";;3:00 pm" does not translate into ";;1500" the way it should (3pm and 300pm all work fine). We'll work on this right away and let you know once it's fixed. Please report any other bugs you find. This is a small operation and this kind of interaction with users is one of the fun aspects of it.
Best, Marc. |

OK. We fixed the problem with the time code. You can now enter
";;3:00pm" and the system will interpret it correctly. Our goal is to allow for as many different ways of entering the time as possible. So you do not have to use military time. for instance, all the codes below are equivalent: ";;Monday at 3 pm" ";;Monday 3pm" ";;mon 3pm" ";;m3pm" ";;m 1500" If it happens to be Sunday after 3pm, it would suffice to say ";;3pm" and onlinehomebase would assume you mean the next "3pm" coming up, i.e. Monday's. Marc. |

Thanks! The 24-hr clock wasn't an issue, but it's always great to be more inclusive.
I got my first email reminder today - and I would have forgotten about the item had I not set up the reminder with onlinehb. Cool service! |
