Another one: www.spamgourmet.com

One question: As most of us know, some places require an e-mail to make an on-line purchase. In other words, you have to give them an e-mail addr or they refuse to let you give them your money. (Ok, mini rant over.) At any rate, IIRC some of these same sites are programmed not to accept some of the domains that are known to be disposable addrs. Does anyone know if this is true?

There's also endjunk.com, which is the one I've been using most for at least a couple of years now.

I would guess it is true... I know some places won't let you use hotmail, yahoo, or google email addresses. I've had that issue myself... they want to see work addresses or an isp like bellsouth.

The speed at which the internet and services come, go and change names, I doubt if anyone can keep an updated disposable address list. They will more than likely kill only the largest providers. My guess anyway...

This is true. I have run into it in practice many times. For example, "The Motley Fool" - just to spite them, I won't post a link - won't accept Mailinator addresses for their free sample newsletters.

Some of the disposables have ways to get around this. Mailinator, for example, has about 5 alternate domains, and I have read at http://email.about.com/od/disposable...gr/2_prong.htm that "Changing domain names perpetually, 2 Prong avoids being blocked."

Thanks.
D.

I'm certainly no expert on spamgourmet, but I've been using it for years - it's probably my favorite disposable address provider - and I've never heard of such a thing. I also just took a quick look at their home page, FAQs, and forum, and can't find a hint of this.

As far as I can tell, they've only got that one domain.

Thanks.
D.

Then I apology. It follows then that there was another of the free that
had a forum and there several of the users did donate domain names
to them. around 2005? Maybe 2004.

Although I haven't looked at their forum, and I don't know whether the other domains were donated by users, I've also just taken a quick look at their FAQ (I've had a Spamgourmet account for a long time which I've thus far never actually used, and I thought your 'extra' domain reference sounded familiar), and from what I found there I suspect that your memory wasn't faulty:

Q. I think they're on to me - are there any other domains I can use besides spamgourmet.com?
A. Yes - you can use spamgourmet.net, spamgourmet.org, spamcannon.net, antichef.com, antichef.net, neverbox.com, recursor.net, dfgh.net, spameater.org, and xoxy.net just as if they were spamgourmet.com. Best to pick one and stick with it, since that will make it easier to remember your disposable addresses if you have to. There are other domains you can use, as well (search around the site and BBS, and the web, too). We don't list them all in one place, because some webmasters configure their sites to reject our addresses, and it seems like they come here to see which domains to reject. (If you *are* one of these people, why do you do this? What good does it really do for you, and don't you have better things to do?

www.temporaryinbox.com is an interesting one.
You may download a Firefox extension,IE toolbar, or even an Opera widget for it.

As it appears to be in Beta, I wonder if it's actually been in operation long enough to reasonably assess it favorably in comparison to other such services.

Are you by chance affiliated with it in some way (given that your first post here seems to be to "promote" it)?

No not affiliated. I was on here last week looking for a good site, was referred to soodonims by a friend (who may know the people who built it), and came back to add my $.02.

I think it maybe Beta I am not sure. I have used it for a week now, have about 5 disposable addresses set up, and deactivated one. So far works as advertised.

I was on Spamgourmet before, but found it confusing (the site that is). This one is a similar concept but cleaner and has some extra features.
