Lychnoscope --also known as a "leper window," "low-side window," or "squint," - a small, low opening in medieval church walls, typically on the south side, allowing excluded individuals like lepers, the infirm, or felons to see church services (especially the elevation of the Host) and receive sacraments from a distance, without entering the main congregation.
