The more programs you have that monitor the changing contents of your clipboard(s), the higher the chance that some of them send that data - quite likely to be confidential - elsewhere.


Windows 10 introduced a clipboard history feature, initially off. One can turn it on at Settings - System - Clipboard.

My view is that it might be useful on a PC used only by one person, but eg in a family, it would make it easy for children to discover parents' or siblings' passwords etc.

When I finally get around to commissioning a Win10 (or 11) PC, I'll probably use a frequently scheduled task to check this remains permanently switched off.
