Observing family and friends who are mostly iPhone I see two main camps. The largest group wants a phone and apps that just work with no fuss. They do not tinker with phones. They like the fact they can walk into an Apple store and have someone fix things or answer questions. They keep their phones for many years until something is broken--often four or five or more. They then go to the Apple store and have the friendly staff just set up a new phone with no fuss and then everything just works for another four or five years. The second group are young professionals that would stick out like sore thumbs if they didn't use iPhones because literally everyone they know has one. At their jobs when someone refers to something on a "phone" they mean on an iPhone, and everyone knows exactly what they mean. They look at Android phones as second class.
