Runbox down?

It's been down for the last hour? Can't ping it by name or IP. Support site is up but can't raise tickets (because it can't connect to runbox to email it out).

Not a huge issue for me except I had just written a nice (non-critical) email on webmail which now I can't send...

Same here - Runbox down

Nothing at http or https beta or plain runbox.com.

http://blog.runbox.com/ says:

"July 24th, 2014 | Published in Status

We are currently experiencing problems with either our network or our firewall, and all Runbox email services are currently unavailable.

Our system administrators are working to correct the problem. Meanwhile, any incoming email will be queued on other servers for later delivery.

Our web and domain hosting services are not affected by this problem."

I started seeing some issues when changing folders in web mail around 4-4:30pm EST USA. The site is not accessible to me either...

stuart_w 25 Jul 2014 07:04 AM

The blog post now claims this has been resolved but I still can't get in to webmail.

Anyone else?

Aaaaand it's back!

http://blog.runbox.com/ now says:

"UPDATE 23:50 CET: A power strip inside a server rack had died, causing the firewall server to go down. We expect this to be resolved shortly.

UPDATE 23:51 CET: Problem has been resolved and email services are back online."

I confirm, it's back.

Nice and quick...

Though I would have figured having a backup / failover firewall server, that traffic would switch to, would be the norm:

I cannot access the site right now either. At first, the main web page came up and I could attempt to logon, but that was not successful. It sounds like they are on top of it and it is probably just a matter of time.

I'm back up now - but only just - a good 20 minutes after the resolved time stated on the blog post though. Is that normal? Does it take time to recover after this type of outage?

I got back in well under 4 minutes after they posted (1st try after restore)... Not sure why the delay for you. Might take a bit for the "back online" message to propagate out to dns servers? Or maybe the rush of sign-ins swamped the server?

I am noticing a bit of a slow down... Might be that the firewall server is having to fiddle a bit (updates, restore settings, etc) before it settles down.

I didn't notice an outage today, but haven't been connecting to the server very often. RB is definitely accessible now.

We do have a failover firewall server, but it's not automatic -- yet.

We had some blips in our switches after the firewall power was brought back, and you probably hit those shortly after we reported being back online. Sorry for the confusion!
