Linking to an image from the compose window
 
I have a really stupid question.

When composing an email using the fastmail web client, how do I link in an image? I am talking about an image that is already online with a url. I am NOT trying to load an image from my PC (that question has stolen all my search hits when trying to find an answer to this question).

Hmmm... I just checked and ISTM I can only upload an image from the new interface and can only link to an image URL in the old/classic interface.

What you might try as a workaround - assuming you mainly use the new interface - is: logout and then login to the classic interface, open the draft, click on the picture icon on the formatting bar to insert an image, and it will ask for the URL. Enter the link info you wish and see if it displays properly. If so, save the draft, logout, and log back in on the standard interface and open the draft to see how the image looks.

I would then like to make a request to the fastmail staff to add that feature. It is a standard feature in an html web client.

I would also like to request a help button on every page that when clicked, opens up the specific help page for that page. I realize there is a Help link on the Mail drop menu in the upper left hand corner, but a) the link is hidden, b) it opens up to a top level help page and not the specific help page. Minor nitpick I know...

I want to add a link to an image that I uploaded from my machine. I'm able to embed the image, but when I select it and then click the link icon and add the URL, it just pastes the URL next to the image...? Is there a workaround?

I'm n'thing this question. Why can I not insert an image thats already online in the new interface when classic has had this ability for YEARs? I mean, TinyMCE and other libraries offer this built in - why recreate the wheel?

I'm able to right-click on the externally hosted image, choose copy image, and paste it into the HTML editor.

I confirmed that the image was not being attached to the email by emailing an image pasted from the web to myself and seeing that the received email displayed the image yet the entire message was 4KB in size.

It's disappointing that this is not in the documentation and that I've only discovered it recently.
